REST0RATION & REORDERING
ST PETER & ST PAUL'S CHURCH BLANDFORD FORUM
THE SOLUTION

The Parish Church of St Peter & St Paul is a Grade 1 Listed Building. A notable example of Georgian architecture in the classical style, it is often stated as being the best example of a Georgian church outside London.

Blandford Cupola Project At Risk registerIn 2012 the building was placed on the Historic England (formerly English Heritage) "At Risk" register.

Historic England have a say in determining what can and cannot be done to the fabric of the building, with input from the Diocesan Advisory Committee. Any major alterations are also subject to applying for a faculty (on a par with applying for local authority planning permission).

The church's appointed architects Marcus Chantry and his partners in Benjamin & Beauchamp liaise with Historic England. Their remit includes assistance in identifing funding streams, grants, etc. and determining and suggesting a timetable for the project.

In the meantime the local Blandford community has and continues to be canvassed for their input. Dr Joseph Elders (ChurchCare) prepared a Conservation Management Plan - approved by the PCC - that went out for consultation to interest groups such as The Georgian Group, The Victorian Society and the Blandford Civic Society.

Grants continue to be sought as work progresses.
