ST PETER & ST PAUL'S CHURCH BLANDFORD FORUM
THE PROBLEM

Blandford Cupola Project rotten timbers

The floor of Blandford Forum Parish Church is currently on several different levels and whilst it is recognised that the box pews hold a place in the hearts of many, the current layout and floor structure have become a significant barrier to wider use of the building.

Those restricted to a wheel chair have to face steps and require ramps to gain access to the main body of the building and have to remain in an aisle or at the rear of the building due to the inflexibility of the building as it stands.

In addition, the Pews themselves are highly restrictive for anyone who finds constrained seating a problem. These factors, along with conforming to the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act, mean that action must be taken as part of the Cupola Project to address the seating and provide seating which is both appropriate and flexible for the needs of the Community.
